About me
I became interested in taking care of feet after having many problems with my feet growing up, and it turned into a lifelong mission. I understand, feet hurting does not make for happy times. After finishing my residency at Kaiser Permanente in Portland, I moved back home, north to Olympia, where I spent the next 20 years in private practice and eventually worked for a small rural hospital. I enjoyed being close to family and back in my hometown, but ultimately, the draw of working in the Kaiser Permanente system and being close to friends and new adventures was just too much to pass up. Being in private practice and part of a small health system was very challenging and frustrating, but helped me be a better clinician. Being a part of Kaiser Permanente gives me the opportunity to provide the best care for my patients, and it makes me very excited to be a part of the team.
About my practice
In the last 20 years of private practice in a smaller community, I took care of patients with ingrown toenails, badly broken ankles, chainsaw wounds, and everything in between. I enjoy taking care of fractures, foot ulcers, sports injuries, arthritis, and all aspects of surgical needs of my patients, including complex reconstruction and revisions. I tend to take a mostly conservative approach, making sure we have tried whatever is necessary to get patients back on their feet and active. I don't give patients orders but work with them and give them the best information to make the best decisions for their future. I have a very relaxed style and a good sense of humor, but I don't sugarcoat information for my patients. They usually appreciate that.
How I thrive
I love to explore and experience new adventures. Growing up, I played all sorts of sports and ultimately played tennis in college. After spending too much time studying and eating, I turned to a healthier lifestyle and eventually took up triathlon, marathon training, and skydiving, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and scuba diving. I can't wait for my next adventure with my family here in Camas!
