Dr. Villarreal is a sports medicine fellowship trained and board certified orthopedic surgeon. He is an Austin native and graduated from Crockett High School in south Austin. Dr. Villarreal graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch and was a part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopaedic training at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. He then completed an additional fellowship in sports medicine at the Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana where he had the opportunity to work with the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans.
Dr. Villarreal specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, fracture care, ligament reconstructions, tendon repairs and degenerative joint diseases. He takes a special interest in discussing all treatment options with every patient to customize every patient’s care.
Dr. Villarreal has published multiple peer reviewed articles. He stays current with the latest techniques in orthopedics and serves a peer reviewer for one of the top orthopedic journals.
