Dr. Craig Forsthoefel is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon that is currently attending an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins and a level 1 author at Orthobullets. In September 2023 he will join Illinois Bone & Joint Institute as an orthopedic spine surgeon.
Prior to college, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009 and deployed to Iraq twice as an infantryman. Upon honorable discharge from the military, he attended Colorado State University where he double-majored in chemistry and biomedical sciences. He then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine where he received a Medical Doctorate (MD) with honors in 2017 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.
During his education and medical training, he has participated in multiple research projects which lead to publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to his duties as an orthopedic resident, he writes educational content for Orthobullets. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, running, and spending time with his wife and dog.
