Dr. John W. Munz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He also serves as the Orthopedic Coordinator of Medical Student Education for the department.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Munz specializes in Orthopedic Trauma with an emphasis in periarticular fractures and dislocations, foot and ankle fractures, malunions/nonunions, periprosthetic fractures, infections, and treatment of the polytraumatized patient. Dr. Munz treats both adult and pediatric patients who have trauma related injuries.
He is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has consistently been recognized for excellence in teaching for his work with medical students, residents, and fellows locally and nationally.
Outside of work he enjoys time with his family and time in the outdoors. He is an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
