A board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Little specializes in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery.

As director of Neurosciences for St. Luke’s Health System, Dr. Little oversees the clinical operations and strategic planning for neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, spine care, interventional neuroradiology, and pain management. During his tenure as director, the neurosciences group has grown to include more than 86 providers with 19 outpatient clinics and 7 acute care hospital departments across southwest Idaho.

Dr. Little also serves as the St. Luke’s spine program medical director, a multidisciplinary collaboration among neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, anesthesiologists, neuropsychologists and rheumatologists dedicated to the surgical and non-surgical care of patients with degenerative, congenital, infectious, traumatic, vascular, and cancer-related spinal problems. As director, he implemented programs that decreased surgical site infections by 75%, reduced 30-day readmissions after spinal fusion by 43%, and increased HCAHPS top box scores by 15.2%. In collaboration with supply chain, Dr. Little also led initiatives that reduced the hospital’s surgical implant and DME costs by 15%.

Dr. Little is a founding member of Northwest Neurosurgery Associates in Boise, Idaho. Under his directorship the group has grown to include 6 neurosurgeons whose subspecialty expertise includes cerebrovascular, brain tumors, scoliosis, complex spine, epilepsy, and movement disorder surgery among others. Together they provide comprehensive neurosurgical services to adult and pediatric patients across the region. Collectively, each year the neurosurgery group sees more than 15,000 patients in clinic and performs more than 2,000 surgeries.

In addition to his clinical and administrative duties, Dr. Little is a member of St. Luke’s Research Advisory Committee and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, book chapters, and presentations. He continues to present his work at national and international conferences.
