About
- Dr. Knute Buehler is a proven innovator and problem solver. He is the author of more than a dozen published scientific research papers and is considered one of the premier surgeon developers in the world of computer assisted knee replacement. He has frequently taught these techniques to surgeons both domestically and internationally, especially China and India. Dr. Buehler has been a leading consultant for Stryker Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, designing artificial joints, developing software, and assisting with business development. He has U.S. and European patents for inventions that have worldwide sales and distribution. He continues to see former and new patients in clinic at The Center on a regular basis. Dr. Buehler, compelled by his desire to improve the lives of all Oregonians, set his eyes on public service. He was the elected to represent Bend in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2015 to 2018. In his four years, he earned a reputation as a thoughtful, effective leader and lawmaker. Knute ran to be Oregon’s next Governor in 2018 but lost a hard-fought general election. Now, with Rep. Greg Walden’s retirement and once again compelled to serve the community he loves, Dr. Buehler has launched a campaign for the United States Congress. Dr. Buehler was born and raised in Roseburg and earned a degree in microbiology from Oregon State University. At OSU, he played varsity baseball and was the university’s first Rhodes Scholar. After attending Oxford University, where he studied politics and economics, Knute earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Buehler enjoys hiking, skiing, economics, history, and college football. He is married to Patricia Buehler, MD, who is an eye surgeon in Bend. They have two children and their dog, Ferris.
